How to become OceanMan? Tips from Dmitri Voloshin

On Wednesday, September 5, the Simpals office hosted the seminar "How to become OceanMan?" The organizers associated the seminar with the upcoming OCEANMAN championship, which will be held in Odessa, on September 8 - 9. The speaker was Dmitri Voloshin, an amateur athlete who won the OceanMan title in 2016, in the competition on Cozumel island, Mexico.

Seminar participants learned a lot of useful information about open water competitions and received a lot of important tips on how to swim the competition distance and win the OCEANMAN title. In addition, Dmitri told the audience:

-   How to prepare for the competition;

-   How to choose the equipment;

-   How to swim, so as not to go astray;

-   What kind of food to take with you and where to hide it (as it turned out, the sleeve is a quite reliable place for this).

Dmitri singled out three must-have things for each participant in the swim: vaseline, medications for diarrhea and painkillers. He also showed several wetsuits, told about their pros and cons, and introduced a novelty for swimmers – the shorty wetsuit.

Dmitry shared the smallest details about overcoming a swim from personal experience, so that the participants could take advantage of his tips, feel confident and truly prepared for the competition!

The swims of the OceanMan series are characterized by robust organization and the ability to choose distances according to your own fitness level. Another peculiarity is that the competitions are conducted in some of the most beautiful places on our planet: Putrajaya and Lake Orta, the Mediterranean Sea, the Caribbean Sea, the Pacific Ocean. Competitions are hosted by such countries as: Malaysia, Spain, Italy, Greece, Mexico, Abkhazia, and Russia. This year the championship will be held in Odessa, on the famous Langeron beach. Moldova will be represented by 37 amateur athletes, one of whom is Dmitri Voloshin.
