The largest kids amateur competitions in swimming

In Moldova, swimming championships are annually held for young swimmers from sport clubs and schools. However, amateur swimming contests in our country are conducted quite rarely, usually in swimming pools, not in open water.

In Russia, for instance, kids amateur swimming contests are annually held in different cities. One of the most ambitious competitions for amateur and beginner swimmers in Russia is held in Moscow. The sporting event is called “My Olympic record”. Competitions are conducted since 2011 in the “Olimpiyskiy” Sports Complex. Participants are supposed to swim 50 meters any style.

In Ukraine, one of the biggest swimming competitions for children is the “Metropolitan Grand Prix”. The League of Children's Swimming of Ukraine gathers young swimmers from all over the country to participate in the championship. Children under the age of 14 compete not only for medals and commemorative ribbons but also for the main prize in their age category. The Championship is held in the CSK VSU pool in Kyiv.

In Romania, national children's swimming championships are held annually. Last year, the competitions were conducted in the city of Brasov, where 600 children aged 10-11 years, from 70 clubs in the country, participated. The championship took place in the Olympic Swimming Pool in Brasov.

Last year, the kids amateur swimming contest "I can swim" was organized in Moldova. A record number of young athletes took part in it - 330 children from 4 sports schools in Chisinau and Tiraspol. The sporting event was timed to coincide with the International Children's Day.

As for the children's swimming competition in open water, it will be held in Moldova for the first time. The Sea Mile Kids Aquathlon championship will be held on July 15, 2018 in Valea Morilor park. The Sea Mile Kids Aquathlon event is organized by mama.md, FTRM, the public sports organization Sporter and 999.md. You can register and learn more about Sea Mile Kids Aquathlon at https://seamile.md/en/.
